The windy Wyoming weather and sub-zero temperatures on New Year’s Day didn’t deter the roughly 300 people who participated in the Wyoming State Park’s First-Day Hike.

Similar events were held in state parks around the country. In Wyoming, there were 16 guided hikes and walks in state parks and historic sites, with only South Pass City in central Wyoming rescheduling their hike for this Saturday, Jan. 5.

One hiker at Edness Kimball Wilkens State Park in Evansville said, “Love the First Day Hike, no better way to start the New Year.”
