Police are investigating statements made by a 29-year-old woman, who reported she was abducted from New Mexico and later abandoned in Gillette.
Police Lt. Brent Wasson said that the woman claimed she had been in Ohkay Owingeh, New Mexico, when an unknown male abducted her.
The man reportedly drove them to Wyoming, arriving in Gillette on Dec. 19.
On the morning of Dec. 20, the man took the 29-year-old woman to the local Walmart, where he reportedly left her.
The woman was taken to the Gillette Police Department by a concerned citizen.
Wasson said police were unable to associate the woman with any missing person reports.
Her story, behavior, and several other indicators have since led officers to suspect the woman of using controlled substances.
