There’s going to be a wait still for the much-anticipated opening of the Marshall’s store.
In June, the city of Gillette approved building permits for the renovation of the former location of Hastings on South Douglas Highway. Lacking a chain department store, the announcement of a new Marshalls—the second in Wyoming—was met with a lot of excitement.
According to representatives of TJX Companies, Inc., which owns the Marshalls chain, the store is anticipated to open sometime in spring 2019.
Katie Babb, marketing specialist with TJX, said she didn’t have exact information on the size of the store at this time, but they are typically around 25,000 square feet.
She said the company would have more information as the opening date approaches.
Babb said TJX company research showed Gillette’s market looked right for the state’s second store.
“In general, when opening new stores, we look for areas with the right mix of demographics/characteristics, which can include families with children, home ownership, thriving retail areas, and areas where shoppers are fashion-conscious, yet value-conscious,” Babb stated.
Marshalls branding says it’s not an outlet store that typically sells from a single manufacturer. Instead the chain describes itself as an “off-price retailer,” which sources a variety of brands from a wide variety of vendors around the world.
According to their website, the store offers brand name and designer fashions at prices around 20 to 60 percent most department and specialty store regular prices on comparable merchandise.
