Wyoming’s unemployment rate increased slightly in September.

According to figures released today by the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 3.9 percent to 4.1 percent between August and September.

Campbell County’s unemployment rate was also 4.1 percent in September, down from 4.3 percent the same month last year.

The labor force fell in Campbell County, dropping from 22,733 to 22,386. This suggests some people have left the county for work elsewhere, though the drop was small. In September 2017, the labor force was 22,741, so the overall trend for the county is stable.

From August to September, most county unemployment rates changed very little.

From September 2017 to September 2018, unemployment rates increased in 16 counties and decreased or remained the same in seven others. The largest increase occurred in Niobrara, which climbed from 2.2 percent to 3.1 percent between August and September.

The greatest decrease was in Converse County, which fell from 3.9 percent to 3.6 percent.

In September, the highest unemployment rates were reported in Natrona and Fremont counties, which both had a 4.5 percent unemployment rate. The lowest rate occurred in Teton County at 2.2 percent.

October employment figures will be released on Nov. 20.
