Barbara Rabuck

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at 4 p.m. at the Campbell County Senior Center located at 701 Stocktrail Avenue, Gillette, WY. Reception will immediately follow.

Barbara Lane Rabuck, of Gillette, Wyoming, was born to Barbara and Wilson Sweaney on July 21, 1950, in Deadwood, South Dakota.  She died peacefully in her home on Sept. 19, 2018.

Barbara grew up in Sturgis, South Dakota, and graduated from high school there in 1968.  She continued her education at South Dakota State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education.  She later earned a master’s degree while working as an elementary school teacher in the Campbell County School District.

Barbara will be remembered as a kind, loving, thoughtful, generous, creative, and curious person.  She loved learning and was especially fond of science.  She was passionate about teaching and strove throughout her professional life to grow as an educator.

When not teaching, she enjoyed music, especially her piano, reading, embroidery, creating beautiful wreathes, and jewelry, and the companionship of her family and friends.

Those who knew Barbara best valued her integrity, loyalty, strength, resilience, courage, and work ethic and her delightful sense of humor.  In spite of loss and setbacks, she never lost hope or faith.  Her family loved her dearly and will cherish her memory always.

Barbara was preceded in death by her baby brother Sweaney, her parents, her granddaughter Ashtyn, her special aunt and uncle Ree and Bob, and her brother Jim.

Left to mourn her passing are her children Jacque and Jim, her grandson Dylan, her brother John and his wife Pat, and her special cousins Claire, Joe, Anne, Nancy, Hans, and Elsa.

Barbara’s family, friends, colleagues, and students thank Barbara for sharing her life with all of us.  May her memory be for a blessing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Barb’s name to Team Ashtyn, courtesy of Give Kids the World.  This organization brought happiness and created fond memories for her beloved granddaughter during her battle with cancer.
