Ice Cream Social with the Candidates Tonight at the Third Street Plaza

Campbell County Senior Center Forum for County Commissioner candidates

(Gillette, Wyo.) The Campbell County Chamber of Commerce is hosting an Ice Cream Social with the candidates this evening on the Third Street Plaza from 5 to 7 p.m.

“There will be no letters read, no formal statements, and no forums,” said Tracy Matthews, chamber events and programming coordinator. “It’s just for the voters to come and meet their candidates.”

The informal mix and mingle event is for every candidate running for political office this year. In addition to candidates for local office, there will also be some candidates for state-wide races there also.

State-wide candidates who are scheduled to attend include:

  • Governor: Mary Throne (D-Cheyenne), Bill Dahlin (R-Sheridan), Foster Friess (R-Jackson Hole), Sam Galeotos (R-Cheyenne), Mark Gordon (R-Buffalo), Harriet Hageman (R-Cheyenne), Taylor Haynes (R-Laramie)
  • Secretary of State: James Byrd (D-Cheyenne)
  • State Auditor: Nathan Winters (R-Thermopolis)
  • State Treasurer: Leland Christensen (R-Alta), Curt Meier (R-La Grange)
  • S. Representative for Wyoming Congressional District One: Greg Hunter (D-Laramie), Travis Helm (D-Laramie), and Rod Miller (R-Cheyenne)
  • S. Senator: Dave Dodson (R-Cheyenne), Representative from John Barrasso’s office

“I’m overwhelmed and very excited about the response we’ve received,” said Matthews “The business and advocacy committee worked very hard to try to get people here. We want people to be informed and not influenced.”

In case of inclement weather, the chamber has lined up the Senior Center as a backup location.

Ice cream for the event is being sponsored by the Ice Cream Café and Espresso Lube, so it’s free for those who attend.
