K-9 Finds a Large Amount of Pot on Cross Country Bus
(Gillette, Wyo.) A 25-year-old Washington man was arrested yesterday after a Jefferson Lines Bus made a stop in Gillette.
According to Gillette Police Lt. Brent Wasson, officers utilized a K-9 to conduct a free air sniff of the bus. But it was officers inside the passenger compartment that noticed the strong odor of raw marijuana.
“They contacted a 25-year-old man who said he worked at a marijuana grow operation in Washington, which accounted for the odor,” said Wasson. “He did tell officers he had a THC vape pen in his pocket.”
The male, later identified as Amario Hobson, gave officers consent to search his backpack after the K-9 indicated the presence of drugs. In addition to the vape pen, Hobson admitted to having 22 grams of marijuana in the backpack.
Officers found approximately 4.5 pounds of marijuana in the backpack, along with a loaded Glock 23 handgun.
Hobson was arrested for possession with intent to deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance.
The K-9 also indicated on another backpack in the back of the bus belonging to a 36-year-old female. No drugs were found in the backpack. However, the female admitted to officers that there had been pot in the backpack the day prior when she was in Washington.
