City Employees Give United

(Gillette, Wyo.) The United Way of Campbell County is wrapping up their 2018 annual fundraising campaign. Executive Director Spring Wilkins said overall donations are up slightly over last year. But are still down significantly when compared to several years ago, before the region’s economic down turn.

“We operate as the community’s ‘change jar’,” said Wilkins. The United Way’s workplace campaigns offer employees the option sign up to have a small amount deducted from their paychecks to help benefit the organization’s 13 partner agencies.

“This allows the United Way to raise funds from donors that wouldn’t necessarily get tapped into through the usual fundraising events and lets us pool a lot of small donations into a large fund that we can then use to make a big impact with for our social service agencies,” explained Wilkins.

Communications Manager Geno Palazzari announced that donations from City of Gillette employees saw a 19 percent increase from last year for a total of $10,422.80.

Palazzari said “We’re off quite a bit from where we used to be, but it’s nice to see that things are starting to turn around a little bit.”

Wilkins said that over the last decade, City of Gillette employees have raised $250,000 for the United Way of Campbell County.
