(Gillette, Wyo.) With the goal of assisting nonprofit organizations across five counties in Wyoming, the Powder River Energy Foundation has donated $10,000 as part of its annual 2017 Holiday Giving Campaign.
The donations will be distributed amongst 13 non-profit organizations across the five Wyoming counties: Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston.
In Campbell County, the Salvation Army and Second Chance Ministries were selected as recipients of the donations.
Donations will distributed throughout Crook County to the Hulett Corner Market for Holiday Baskets, Sundance Community Christmas Baskets and the Moorcroft First Presbyterian Church Holiday Baskets.
The food pantry for All Souls Episcopal Church in Kaycee and the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Buffalo were the organizations selected to receive donations in Johnson County.
Donations were awarded to Walmart in Sheridan County for the Shop with a Cop event as well as to the Hub on Smith for a Giving Tree.
In Weston County, funds will be given to the Newcastle Ministerial Association Christmas Appeal, the Home Loving Care of Weston County, the Upton Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Upton Food Bank.
The Holiday Giving Campaign was made possible, in part, by the Powder River Energy Foundation’s program, RoundUp®, which allows participating members to “round up” their monthly energy bills to the next whole dollar. On average, each member contributes around 50 cents per month.
The foundation itself was established in 2007.
Since 2007, the Powder River Energy Foundation has managed to raise and award hundreds of thousands of dollars to charitable organizations located within PRECorp’s service area, despite the miniscule individual contributions.
Every penny that is collected through RoundUp® are transferred to the foundation, which is governed by an independent Board of Directors. Every bit of the contributions are relayed into the organizations every year, with any administrative overhead being donated by PRECorp. Given the 501 (c)(3) status of Powder River Energy Foundation, all donations are tax deductible.
