(Gillette, Wyo.) Following a routine traffic stop on a van that was driving without headlights, after dark, officers with the Gillette Police Department discovered and confiscated nearly six ounces of suspected marijuana and a wide variety of paraphernalia. The discovery ultimately led to the arrests and multiple citations for the parties involved.
Around 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, GPD officers pulled over a 1999 Dodge Caravan that was driving, at night, without its headlights on near the intersection of 7th Street and Highway 59. When officers made contact with the driver, 42-year-old Jason Faulkner, they could see that his eyes were watery, bloodshot, and could detect a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, said Police Sgt. Jason Marcus.
The occupants of the vehicle, other than Faulkner, were 25-year-old Jacque Domina, 32-year-old Christopher Wood and another 32-year old male, whose identity has not been released at this time.
All of the occupants reportedly admitted to having smoked marijuana approximately 20 minutes prior at a residence. According to the report, Faulkner also admitted to drinking a glass of wine before he had left that same residence.
A Police K-9 was utilized, which indicated positively to the presence of a controlled substance. Upon concluding a search of the vehicle, officers located an estimated 8.1 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia. In a back pack, belonging to an 18-year-old male who was not in the vehicle at the time, officers located more paraphernalia and approximately 1 gram of marijuana hash, said Marcus.
Faulkner was submitted to standard field sobriety maneuvers and was ultimately arrested for DUI based on his performance.
The other vehicle occupants refused to give officers permission to search a home located on Independence Lane. Officers sought, and were granted, a search warrant to search the residence.
Inside the RV, officers located 32 grams of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. In the room belonging to the 32-year-old male, officers found an estimated 26 ml of liquid marijuana and 23 individual baggies that contained, together, approximately 5.6 ounces of marijuana. A scale, ledger and still more paraphernalia were also located.
Faulkner was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of controlled substance, no insurance, no seat belt, and use of a controlled substance.
Wood and Domina were both arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, use of controlled substance and no seat belt.
The 32-year-old male was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in both plant and liquid form, felony possession with intent to deliver, use of a controlled substance and no seat belt.
Additionally, the 18-year-old male was cited for possession of a controlled substance
