Man Arrested, Charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery

(Gillette, Wyo.) A Gillette man has been taken into custody by the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, forcing her to flee the residence through a window.

According to Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office received an urgent 911 call from a residence located near Hillside Drive on Friday, Oct. 20, at approximately 11 p.m. The caller was a neighbor of a residence where a 37-year-old woman had been involved in a physical altercation with her 26-year-old boyfriend, identified as William Hamilton.

Earlier that same evening, Hamilton had reportedly left his residence on Hillside Drive to go drinking, leaving his girlfriend, the 37-year-old female, at home. Upon his return, he and his girlfriend engaged in a heated argument, concerning his drinking.

Reynolds stated that Hamilton had, allegedly, struck his girlfriend multiple times in the face, with a closed fist, while she was lying in bed. The female managed to escape the attack through a bedroom window and ran to the neighbor’s house, who contacted law enforcement.

The female was treated at the hospital for head injuries she had reportedly received during Hamilton’s attack.

Hamilton was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault in battery.
