Strangulation: Gillette Male Faces Felony Charge

(Gillette, Wyo.) 36-year-old Nicholas Marshall was detained by the Gillette Police Department (GPD) on Friday, July 7th at approximately 11:00 p.m. for charges of domestic battery.

According to the report released by a GPD official, officers responded to a residence located near Crestfield Avenue after receiving a report from a distraught 37-year-old female who claimed she had become a victim of domestic battery. GPD officers had already been in the area investigating a suspicious activity report where a resident could hear a woman screaming for help.

When officers arrived on scene, the 37-year-old female reported that she had been struck in the face by Marshall while he had been attempting to force the female to leave her residence.

“The male drug the female by the hair,” an official stated. “And hit her face into the ground, causing her to lose consciousness for a few seconds.”

Officers arrested Marshall on charges of domestic battery. The female was treated by Emergency Medical Services on scene, and refused transport to the hospital.

This morning, July 13th, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office revealed that another charge of felony strangulation of a household member had been added to Marshall’s offenses. Details on the strangulation offense are unknown at this time, but officials reason that it is possible the charges could have been amended following further investigation of the incident on Crestfield Ave.
