Uncle Fredie’s Junkyard Grill

Uncle Fredie’s Junkyard Grill | 2209 S Douglas Hwy | Grill – Pizza
Uncle Fredie’s Junkyard Grill is like going to the house of your friend’s uncle who is always grilling… even breakfast is somehow miraculously grilled.
The dining room looks like a full on antique “Junkyard” with classic wall decor, side-room arcade
model airplanes and hot air balloons hanging from the ceilings,
and assorted gas pumps decorating the entrance and a few discreet corners of the interior dining areas.
So when we first sat down to eat, we tried the Southern Fried Pickle Spears and oh my! I’ll admit… I was skeptical of my favorite old-fashion preserve item being united with the world of fried goodness. But what other fried food can you eat with peanut butter? Only the plump, salty morsel of a crunchy pickle could perfectly balance the sweet, creamy peanut butter enriching just the tip of the spears.
My coworker, who sticks to raw vegan cuisine, asked for the most vegged-up salad they could create. An unusual request at a grill right?
But boy did they deliver! This colorful bad boy contained at least 6-7 different vegetables, all crafted into a beautifully arranged insalata.
But at the end of the day you gotta admit, what more could you want than a big ole’, juicy hamburger? Imagine, adorning the sizzling patty a pile of BBQ pulled-pork, fresh veggies, and mozzarella cheese smothering the top, all packaged in some lightly toasted buns. Is your mouth watering yet?
Well good! Because that’s exactly what I got to try. The “Gas Tank” burger featuring pulled-pork doused in Freddie’s BBQ sauce. Except nix the Mozzarella cheese because I live a sad lactose-intolerant life.
A perk of Uncle Freddie’s is being neighbors with Mingles Bar, with whom they get to share their alcohol menu, making variety a cinch.
The list of beers served at Uncle Fredie’s includes: Ultra, Bud Light, Coors Light, Budweiser, Miller Lite, Black Tooth Brown, Black Tooth Amber, Knuckle Head, Summer Shady, Shocktop, Bluemoon, Easy Street Wheat, Alaskan Amber, Hoback, Stella Artois, Elysian IPA, Red Lodge, Guinness, Black Hills Brown, 1554, Fat Tire, Newcastle, Black Tooth Brown, Black Tooth Amber, Knuckle Head.
Beautiful day outside? Uncle Fredie will hook you up some chairs on the patio under an umbrella. So you can kick back, enjoy your ice-cold lager, and then another one.
Hungry this weekend? Try out Uncle Fredie’s Junkyard Grill and Pizza. You’ll leave with an old-fasioned neon glow, full belly, and who knows! Maybe even a boat…
