(Gillette, Wyo.) According to the Gillette Police Department, around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to numerous complaints of a destruction of property along South Douglas Highway area.
Upon arrival to Hand Therapy of Wyoming, officers discovered that a large rock had been thrown through the front window of the building causing over $1,000 in damages.
Between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. several businesses in the area called in with the same complaint, all having a rock thrown through the front windows. Businesses with damage include Jimmie Johns over $1,000 in damages, Sakura Massage over $1,000 in damages, Sportsman’s Warehouse over $1,000 in damages, and Berkshire Hathaway about $700 in damages.
One of the businesses had surveillance cameras which allowed officers to identify 18-year-old Rebecca Panych. Panych was later located at her home and interviewed along with additional witnesses; which led to the 18-year-old’s arrest.
While officers attempted to place Panych under arrest, she allegedly resisted and fought with officers. Once Panych was handcuffed, the 18-year-old reportedly continued fighting officers all the way to the detention center, kicking several squad car doors, and allegedly fighting detention center workers.
Panych is being charged with four counts of felony destruction of property, misdemeanor destruction of property, and interfering with an officer.
